Hotel in Central Sorrento: Getting There and Walking Around

Staying in the centre of Sorrento changes the pace of a holiday. Grand Hotel Europa Palace stands at Via Correale 34/36, a short walk from Piazza Tasso, the heart of town. Step outside and you are already among shops, restaurants and the streets of the historic centre, while from the terraces the view sweeps across the Gulf of Naples to Vesuvius and Capri.

Getting here is easy even without a car. From Naples airport, the Curreri bus runs straight to Piazza Tasso; from there, simply walk along Via Correale to the hotel. By train, from Napoli Centrale station in Piazza Garibaldi take the Circumvesuviana line on the lower level towards Sorrento, a journey of about an hour. By sea, the hydrofoil from the Napoli-Beverello terminal takes around 40 minutes to Marina Piccola, Sorrento's port, which is linked to Piazza Tasso by taxi and local buses.

Driving, follow the A2 Rome-Naples motorway, then the signs for the Sorrento Peninsula onto the A3, exit at Castellammare di Stabia and continue to Sorrento. If you prefer a stress-free arrival, the hotel can arrange a private transfer on request. From the airport it is the most comfortable option, taking roughly an hour.

Once you arrive, the car can stay parked. The old town, the shopping streets and the restaurants are all within walking distance, and the port is the starting point for days on the water. Capri is about 30 minutes away by ferry, Positano and Amalfi can be reached by sea, and Pompeii is around half an hour on the Circumvesuviana. Sorrento becomes a practical base for exploring the gulf and the coast. On summer evenings the centre comes alive, and a stroll to Piazza Tasso after dinner becomes part of the stay, with no parking or timetables to worry about.

A central location also means you can pop back to the hotel in the middle of the day: a break by the sea-view pool, an aperitivo at Bar Terrazza, then back into town for dinner. That advantage stays the same when, from March 2027, Europa Palace becomes a 5-star hotel.
